Learn to get things done — in a way that works for you
Get On By's task coaching is a one-to-one, in-person service delivered by a trained job coach. We work alongside you to break down real tasks, build approaches that match how your mind works, and develop the confidence to manage things more independently — whatever condition you're living with.
Who it's for
For people who find tasks genuinely difficult because of how their mind works
Task coaching is for adults whose conditions make it harder to start, manage, or complete everyday tasks — not because of a lack of effort or ability, but because of how their condition affects executive function, focus, energy, or confidence. You don't need a formal diagnosis to enquire.
Complex mental health conditions
Including anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, emotionally unstable personality disorder, psychosis, and others — especially where symptoms affect focus, motivation, task initiation, or follow-through.
Neurodivergent profiles
Including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, and Tourette syndrome — where differences in executive function, processing speed, working memory, or sensory experience make tasks harder than they appear.
Learning disabilities and mixed presentations
Including mild to moderate learning disabilities, and people living with a complex mix of two or more of the above — where no single label fully captures the challenges you're managing day to day.
How it works
Real sessions, real tasks, real progress
Sessions are in person, at your pace. Your coach isn't there to do tasks for you — they're there to help you find a way through them that you can repeat independently. The goal is always to build your own approach, not a dependence on someone else doing it.
We get to know you first
Your first session is a conversation. We learn about the tasks you find hardest, the conditions you're managing, and what you'd most like to be able to do — without assumption or judgement.
We work through real tasks together
In each session, you and your coach work on a real task you've chosen — breaking it into steps, testing what helps, and adjusting the approach to what actually works for you specifically.
You build skill and confidence
Over time, the ways of working you develop become more familiar and more your own — because you've practised them, not just been told about them.
Your approach goes into Get On By
Every task method you develop in coaching is saved as a personal template in your Get On By software. Available whenever you need it — adapted to how you're feeling on any given day.
What we work on
Everyday tasks that feel out of reach
Coaching is shaped around the tasks that matter most to you — not a fixed programme. Common areas we work on include:
Work and communication
Writing and responding to emails, preparing for and attending meetings, making phone calls, managing workload, and handling workplace admin, and more.
Daily living and personal admin
Managing appointments, household tasks, bills, paperwork, and the personal admin that can pile up when motivation or executive function is affected.
Education and studying
Studying for exams, completing assignments, and managing academic workload with strategies that work for your learning style and challenges.
Transitions and new routines
Starting a new role, adjusting to a change in circumstances, or building a consistent routine that holds even when your condition makes consistency harder.
Built to last
Every task you learn becomes a reusable template
Task coaching doesn't end when the session does. Every approach you develop with your coach is recorded and added to your personal task templates library in Get On By — broken into the exact steps that work for you, ready to use whenever you face that task again.
Saved into your templates library
The steps you developed together are written up and added to your personal task templates in Get On By — in your language, structured the way that works for you.
Adapted to how you're feeling each day
On amber and red days, Get On By adjusts the steps to match your current capacity — the same task, scaled to what you can manage today, without starting from scratch.
Reusable — because you built it
You developed this approach yourself, with support. Every time you use it again, you're drawing on something that genuinely belongs to you — not a generic to-do list.
Important to know
Task coaching is not therapy or clinical support
Our job coaches are trained to support you with real tasks in a way that works alongside your condition — but they are not therapists, counsellors, or clinical practitioners. Task coaching is a practical, skills-based service. It works best alongside any clinical, therapeutic, or community support you already have — not as a replacement for it.
If you are in crisis, please contact your GP, a crisis line, or emergency services. Get On By is not an emergency or crisis service.
